The Charlottetown Chito Ryu Karate Club has enjoyed a 35-year history of classes at St. Jean’s Elementary School.  The gymnasium facility has served us well over that time.  We have an opportunity to move to another location as the sole tenant in a new, permanent facility at the Holland College West Royalty & Sport PEI building.

The new dojo will be accessible seven days a week.  The new dojo will provide much-needed expansion capacity for scheduling:
  • additional time sizes to continue existing programs in smaller classes;
  • specialized training to benefit all students;
  • unique programs in kumite, kata, bo, etc; and,
  • dedicated classes for seniors and/or adult fitness.
List of Capital Needs
  • Martial Arts Karate Mats;

  • Convert Store Rooms into Change Rooms;

  • Painting Supplies for Walls & Floor;

  • Training Mirrors for One Wall;

  • Tables, Guest Chairs, Office Supplies, etc

Before! Fundraising is Necessary
This pending move marks a new chapter in the history of Chito Ryu in Charlottetown.  The current condition of the new location will require manpower and resources to create a dojo suitable to our needs.  It is a large room with a cement floor, high ceilings and good lighting.  It needs some paint; the walls should have some mirrors; and, the floor will require karate mats.  Most of this comes at a cost, so some fundraising is necessary and our campaign for sponsors has begun under the theme:

"Healthy Bodies,
Focused Minds
for Life"

Central Queens Dojo

This move for the Charlottetown dojo does NOT change classes at the Central Queens dojo in Hunter River.  It does provide lots more flexible time and the opportunity for additional training at the new Charlottetown dojo.
